Welcome to the finest Bike Shop the Napa Valley has to offer.
When we look for staff for St Helena Cyclery we look for both attitude and aptitude. We want to offer our customers the absolute best experience they can find. We’re proud of our staff here at St Helena Cyclery, who are committed to you and to provide the best service we possibly can.
We train for excellence in our service dept. and keep our skills up with continuous improvement, both in-house and in the field. We’re proud of our staff and we welcome you to our store. We hope to exceed your expectations.
I became the owner of St Helena Cyclery in 1991, at the age of 22 yrs old. What a ride it has been. I came here to the Napa Valley to go to college and liked it so much I stayed. I consider this store to be an integral part of this community and have seen tremendous change in the past 23 years. I raise my family here and am vested in the success of this town and the customers/friends I serve. But the real joy is working in a place that people like to come to. Seeing the smiles of the kids as they ride around the store – then seeing those same kids graduating from college several years later. The people in this “family toy store” make this place a fun place to be.
I’ve been working hard to make this valley a better place to ride. Locals and visitors flood the roads on their bicycles and we’re working hard to make it a better place to enjoy on a bike. I’m on the founding board of the Napa Vine Trail www.vinetrail.org and I encourage everyone to participate in this monumental effort. When we are finished we will have a 44 mile bike path through our Napa Valley from Vallejo to Calistoga. It will be the best in the world.
I welcome you to our shop with a smile and helping hand. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and provide you with a fantastic experience. I look for the best staff to support our vision and we hope to be of service to you soon. We look forward to seeing you. Thank you for visiting our shop.
Robert Nelson, Store Manager St. Helena Cyclery
I'm a great example of the old saying about choosing a job you love so that you never have to "work" a day in your life. I stumbled into the bike industry in 1994, and 2 decades later I still consider myself fortunate to work with people and bikes on a daily basis. Bicycles have always represented freedom and independence for me, and I love helping others find that sort of inspiration in their bikes and their riding. I'm eager to help everyone find their own biking bliss, whether that means mountain biking in Angwin, Road riding on Mt. Veeder, or riding a cruiser to the Farmer's market with your kids. I'm continually grateful for everything I've learned from people and their bikes over the years. One of my favorite nuggets is this bit of wisdom from a long ago co-worker: "Bikes are like friends. You can never have too many!"
Blaine Rainey, Store Manager Napa Valley Velo
Blaine is a bicycle industry veteran, with 25+ years experience working all over, including stints in Hawaii, Arizona, and most recently Colorado.
An avid rockclimber and cyclist, one of Julian's first memories as a very young child is of crashing his bike into a wall. He apparently enjoyed the experience, as bicycles and the outdoors have been his playground ever since. He's a talented, experienced mechanic, and a knowledgeable salesperson. He's particularly fond of mountain biking, so bring him your disc brakes, and chat with him about suspension design.
Justin returned to St Helena Cyclery as our service manager. He was previously the service manager for St Helena Cyclery in 2013 before leaving to expand his horizons in other locations. We're happy to have him back, and he's happy to be back on the trails with his Mtn Bike. He's leading the popular Wednesday night Mtn Bike rides and encourages everyone to come out and ride with us!
Joey brings nearly a decade of local Napa Valley cycling experience to both of our stores. You'll find him primarily on the sales floor at Napa Valley Velo, where his enthusiasm for all things 2 wheeled is infectious.
Cesar Lopez recently retired from a 3 decade career as a Firefighter/Paramedic, and is pursuing his longtime interest in bicycles with Napa Valley Velo. He's a recent graduate of UBI United Bicycle Institute is working towards being a master mechanic. He believes in fitness and keeping the mind fresh by experiencing new things.
Mariano "Buck" Alonzo
Buck joins us in St. Helena after working as the Fleet Manager at a bicycle touring company. He's fluent in Spanish, and is a great informational resource for casual wine touring by bicycle.
